Another Cost of Ignoring the Constitution
United States Constitution:
“Article four section 4. The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion;”
I know that some people don’t see the flood of people crossing our southern border as an invasion. Here is the definition of “invasion” on Bing:
invasion [inˈvāZHən] NOUN
· an instance of invading a country or region with an armed force.
· an incursion by a large number of people or things into a place or sphere of activity.
· an unwelcome intrusion into another's domain.
This definition is very similar to what The Federalist Papers say:
“A wise and free people must focus their attention on many objectives. First is safety. The concept of safety relates to a wide variety of circumstances . . .At this time, I will discuss safety as it relates to the preservation of peace and tranquility against dangers from foreign arms and influence.” Federalist Paper #3 [paragraphs 3-4]*
Currently, more than 100,000 (mostly young) people are being killed every year because of the poison crossing our open border. Yet there is no urgency to close the border.
“Security against foreign danger is one of the primary objectives of civil society. It is an avowed and essential objective of the American Union. Federal councils must be entrusted with the powers required for attaining it.” Federalist Paper #41 [paragraph 7]*
Building a border wall is a duty of the federal government. In fact, “the Secure Fence Act” was passed by Congress in 2006. But our Executive (whose duty is to “execute” the laws passed by Congress) refuses to finish the border wall.
